Werth leaves game with hamstring cramp

Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth left Saturday’s 10-9 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals  in the ninth inning with cramps in his hamstring. He said it’s the first time in four or five years that’s happened to him during a game, but didn’t think it serious, either. It was a warm, unseasonably humid day for Sept. 1 in the District and Werth, of course, is still working himself back into baseball shape after missing three months with a broken left wrist before returning on Aug. 2.

“It felt like it was intelligent not to play any longer so they took me out,” Werth said. “Hopefully it’ll be nothing and I’ll be back out there tomorrow, but we’ll see. I don’t think it’s too serious, though.”
