President Obama agrees with Vice President Joe Biden, who suggested that if you want to protect your family, you should buy a shotgun.

“I think the president does agree with the vice president that [for homeowners who are interested in exercising their second amendment rights,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters today, “a shotgun would be a logical choice.”

Biden made the recommendation during a Facebook town hall yesterday. “If you want to protect yourself, get a double barrel shotgun,” he said. “You don’t need an AR-15.” He added that AR-15s are “harder to aim” than shotguns.

Carney said Biden was simply emphasizing that “you do not need a military style assault weapon.”
