President Obama is happy for Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, but he doesn’t have any advice on child-rearing for the expecting couple — at least not yet.

“We extend our congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the welcome news out of London that they are having their first child,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said in a statement from the president and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Carney said that he had not talked to the Obamas about what advice they might have for the royal couple, but he offered congratulations to “a commoner here at the White House” — referring to a reporter whose baby was just born.
