President Obama gets an intelligence briefing every day, his spokesman said, notwithstanding an “amusing” suggestion to the contrary in The Washington Post.

“The President of the United States gets the presidential daily briefing every day,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters today during the press briefing. “He always reads it, every day, because he’s a voracious consumer of all of his briefing material.”

The Washington Post’s Marc Thiessen suggested that Obama does not prioritize national security issues in his daily schedule, reporting that “It turns out that more than half the time, the commander in chief does not attend his daily intelligence meeting.” Milbank’s column was based on a survey of Obama’s schedule by the Government Accountability Institute.

Carney barely restrained himself in commenting on the report.  “I believe the article written about it is, um, amusing,” he said.
