This is what's in the news for Tuesday, August 2nd. The Wall Street Journal reports that China may further tighten regulations on rare earth exports amid concerns that escalating prices have led to a surge in rare earth smuggling and the export of byproducts not included in current quota restrictions. The Wall Street Journal reports that Eastman Kodak (NYSE:EK) is exploring a sale of the company's patent for previewing photographs currently being litigated against Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM). Finally, Bloomberg reports that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) won an agreement from Samsung Electronics the company won't sell the latest version of its tablet computer in Australia until a patent lawsuit there is resolved.
