During an interview on ABC News, actor Will Ferrell admitted that he partially based his fictional North Carolina congressman character on former North Carolina Senator John Edwards.

Ferrell co-stars in the movie “The Candidate” as “Cam Brady” an establishment politician faced by upstart challenger played by Zach Galifianakis.

“In terms of character study, I loved his style of being so overly earnest and then you see behind the veneer sort of what was really going on,” Ferrell said referring to Edwards.

Ferrell added that he wanted his character to have “absolutely perfect hair, worthy of a $900 haircut.”
