Woman severely injured in Southeast D.C. crash

A woman was severely injured on Sunday afternoon after a vehicle struck her in Southeast D.C. near the Maryland line.

When officers arrived at the scene, near First and South Capitol streets Southeast, the woman was not conscious or breathing, a police spokesman said.

The incident took place about 2:48 p.m., and the police department's major crash unit is overseeing the investigation.
