COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Female moviemakers from across the country will gather in Columbia this weekend for the fifth annual Citizen Jane Film Festival.

The Stephens College event celebrates women in film while also advocating for more females behind the camera. Organizers say just 5 percent of the 250 top-grossing domestic films in 2011 featured women as directors.

The festival runs Friday through Sunday at three Columbia locations — Stephens College, the Missouri Theatre and the Ragtag Cinema. Other events include workshops, panel discussions, late night concerts and appearances by directors, producers, writers, cinematographers and editors from featured films.
