YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming crews clearing snow in Yellowstone National Park have reached federal plowing crews.
The National Park Service says the two sides met Monday just south of Grand Village, 16 miles from where Wyoming Department of Transportation began plowing.
That puts the South Entrance on track to open on May 10 as originally scheduled.
Budget cuts had threatened to delay the opening of park entrances but the towns of Cody and Jackson and area businesses have paid for state plowing in the park to open both the East and South entrances on time.
The West Entrance opened on time on April 19 thanks to good weather. People now can drive from West Yellowstone, Mont., to Old Faithful or north to Mammoth Hot Springs.
