The Redskins have the fourth pick in the draft, a top offensive tackle should be available. It’s a good fit, right? Well, yeah. But there’s something that ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay doesn’t trust.
“They can go in so many directions,” McShay said. “It’s easy to say they’ll take Trent Williams or Russell [Okung], but something tells me they’ll be the first team to shake things up before all is said and done.”
He can even see them taking a quarterback, though he says their private workouts with the top quarterbacks are more about doing their due diligence than anything. Still…
“Bruce [Allen] loves to get the mind games going,” McShay said. “He’s the king of it.”
As far as the Allen/Mike Shanahan pairing, McShay called it a good one. Their strengths complement one another. Allen is good at maneuvering picks and adheres to his board. Shanahan has a good feel for what players will fit in his schemes.
“They have a chance to work reallly well together,” McShay said. “It’s a perfect marriage.”
