MSNBC panel to Hillary: Give Bill Clinton ‘a break from campaigning’

Bill Clinton’s recent criticism of Obamacare has turned him into a liability for his wife’s presidential campaign and it would be wise for her to remove him from the stump, an MSNBC panel concluded on Thursday.

The former president has spent the last three days criticizing the Affordable Care Act, clarifying his comments and causing a headache for Hillary Clinton’s campaign. He described the healthcare law as the “craziest thing in the world” on Monday, said it “did a world of good” on Tuesday and spent Wednesday acknowledging that “there are problems with it, and everybody knows it.”

It’s “stunning” to see the Clinton campaign allowing Bill Clinton to continue stumping for the Democratic presidential hopeful after he trashed the president’s signature policy achievement on more than one occasion this week, said MSNBC regular Donny Deutsch.

“Take him off the campaign right now. Take him off,” advised “Morning Joe” host, Joe Scarborough. “At some point, they gave Joe Biden an ipod and some headphones and put him on a plane and flew him around. When are they going to do that with Bill Clinton?”

Deutsch added that Bill Clinton “also looks so unstrong compared to Trump” when he’s out campaigning, which could “hurt” his wife’s campaign even more. “He looks weak,” Deutsch said.

Trump has used the former president’s comments to troll his Democratic opponent, telling a crowd of voters on Tuesday “I want to thank him, honestly, for being honest,” while the Clinton campaign has said Bill Clinton restated what “is clear to everyone, including President Obama, that improvements are needed” when it comes to healthcare law.
