Drivers on eight roads in Columbia should expect delays Sunday during the Iron Girl Triathlon, Howard police said.
Police will direct traffic, but drivers should plan for 20- to 30-minute delays between 6 a.m. and noon, police said.
The 1,500 participants will stay inside Centennial Park for the swimming and running portions, but will be cycling on these roads:
- Route 108
- Homewood Road
- Folly Quarter Road
- Carroll Mill Road
- Mount Albert Road
- Canter Lane
- Jumpers Hill Lane
- Triadelphia Road
Pipeline in Howard will see upgrades
Howard County plans to upgrade a section of the transcontinental pipeline in the Marriottsville area, beginning Saturday, the county’s Department of Public Works said.
The project will affect traffic along Marriottsville Road between Warwick Way and Old Frederick Road.
Southbound traffic will be shifted to the northbound lane. The project is expected to be done by Tuesday.

Norfolk Avenue in Laurel to be widened
A roadwork project in Patuxent Heights neighborhood in Laurel is expected to occur through mid-January, said Howard officials in the public works department.
Norfolk Avenue will be widened and receive a new curb, gutter and storm drain, starting Sept. 2.
