P.G. police search for armed robbers of U.Md. student Prince George’s County police are looking for two armed men who robbed a University of Maryland student off campus Friday night.
Police say a female student approached a black and purple Toyota Scion, thinking it was her ride. When she approached the car, two men demanded her purse.
After she refused, one of the men brandished a gun, took the purse and fled the scene.
Police said both men were black and about 20 years old. One of the men was 5-foot-9 and wearing a green and blue sweater.
Md. man dies in Howard County motorcycle crash
Howard County police say a 30-year-old Columbia man died after driving his speeding motorcycle into a parked tractor-trailer on Saturday.
Juan Carlos Calderon Mejia crashed his 2001 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on Brookdale Drive in Elkridge and was taken to a nearby hospital in Baltimore where he died.
Police say Mejia was not wearing a helmet and did not have a motorcycle license.
Fairfax County police sound alarm on Cragslist scams
Fairfax County police are warning residents to watch out for Craigslist scams after three transactions planned through the website became armed robberies.
Over the last week there have been two armed robberies in Lorton and another in Clifton after prospective car buyers sought out too-good-to-be-true deals advertised on Craigslist.
Police would not say how much money was stolen in the three encounters. Authorities are reminding those using the Web site to not meet with strangers in unfamiliar places, particularly when carrying a large amount of cash.
Police were not able to provide a description of the robbers.
