Needy residents of Montgomery County will be modeling clothing and supplies they received through county donations at a fashion show in mid-December.
The event will celebrate more than $400,000 in gift cards distributed to needy families since the county started the program three years ago in a partnership with Unique Thrift Store.
Through the program, the county identifies needy families with the help of nonprofits and public school officials and donates gift cards to those families. The cards can be redeemed for a variety of merchandise including winter coats and school supplies.
Unique Thrift Store in Silver Spring will present the county with another $100,000 check at the Dec. 15 runway show for distribution among more than 10,000 families this year.
