The woman killed at a Bethesda yoga store had a crushed skull and a severed spinal cord as a result of a brutal 20-minute struggle with a co-worker, prosecutors said.
Brittany Norwood pleaded not guilty to murder charges Monday and was ordered held without bond in the slaying of Murray on March 11 at Luluemon Athletica.
Murray, 30, and Norwood, 28, were found the morning of March 12 after a manager opened up the store and heard groans coming from the back room. The place appeared ransacked, and the manager called police.
Murray was found savagely beaten to death. Norwood was tied up.
Norwood told police that two masked men with gloves attacked the women after they had returned to the store because Norwood left her wallet behind.
But police said the evidence did not support Norwood’s account and her story didn’t hold up under repeated questioning. She was arrested Friday.
