Air Force veteran and talent agent Wally Amos became famous on March 10, 1975. He took the advice of friends and family and opened a cookie store in Los Angeles called Famous Amos.
As a child, Amos loved cooking. He would watch his aunt bake cookies and then alternated some of her ingredients.
Amos eventually discovered the recipe that would make his cookies famous today. As the years passed, Amos gave his cookies to friends, family and business partners.
The original Famous Amos cookie container was a round white tin can with a photo of a large chocolate chip cookie spinning on Wally?s finger. The store and product proved to be so popular that Amos? cookies would soon sell in supermarkets and specialty stores.
Today, Famous Amos has gone through a number of owners and several different looks. What hasn?t changed is the great taste of the cookie we all love from famous Amos.
