‘He didn’t use that lectern as a crutch’: Michael Moore asserts Bernie Sanders not too old

Filmmaker and environmental activist Michael Moore said that independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders performed “powerfully” at a rally over the weekend, his first since being hospitalized for a heart attack.

Moore appeared on MSNBC’s Hardball with host Chris Matthews on Tuesday to discuss the chances Sanders has at capturing the Democratic presidential nomination. Sanders, 78, suffered a heart attack on Oct. 1 and recovered in a hospital for several days, canceling all events on his campaign calendar.

Sanders’ first rally since the health complication was before an audience of thousands in New York on Saturday when he received the endorsement of Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Moore also spoke at the rally in support of Sanders.

“What I saw on Saturday, I saw him giving a speech that went an hour-and-a-half. He didn’t use that lectern as a crutch or anything. He stood there and powerfully told the people what we have to do to make this a better country,” Moore told Matthews.
