House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Monday that she has tested negative for COVID-19 after disclosing an asymptomatic infection last week.
“Today, happily I tested negative for COVID,” the California Democrat, 82, wrote on Twitter. “Tomorrow, I will be exiting isolation at the direction of the Capitol’s Attending Physician and consistent with CDC guidelines for asymptomatic individuals. Many thanks to everyone for their good wishes, chocolates and chicken soup.”

Current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention require individuals who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, to isolate for five days. Pelosi’s office said last week she is fully vaccinated and boosted.
Pelosi’s office disclosed her positive test result on Thursday, a day after she attended an event at the White House in close proximity to President Joe Biden.

Pelosi was among several lawmakers to disclose positive tests last week, including Sens. Susan Collins and Raphael Warnock. The rise in cases on Capitol Hill corresponded with a recent Gridiron Club dinner that has become the source of an outbreak among some elected officials. But Pelosi was not in attendance at that dinner.
