Ivanka Trump rejects assertions the president fosters climate of hate

President Trump’s eldest daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump says she rejects the idea that her father is fostering a climate in the U.S.

“I reject that. I think that he is creating policy that is going to lift all Americans,” Trump said in response to a question during an interview recorded with ABC on Tuesday. “And that’s what his number one role is: to have this dialogue.”

Trump said that sometimes expressions of anger and resistance are the right moments that can spur the country forward.

The president faces persistent criticism that he’s widening divisions in the American public through his rhetoric, overall tone in public, and interactions with the media.

Ivanka Trump said she frequently disagrees with her father and his stances but is able to express her ideas to him in a respectful, professional way.

“He knows exactly where I stand on any issues,” said Trump, whose husband, Jared Kushner, is also a White House senior adviser.
