Poland‘s prime minister on Thursday announced that Polish forces thwarted a Russian assassination plot against a U.S. citizen in Warsaw, in what has been deemed an unprecedented attack from Moscow.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said authorities arrested the suspect, who was alleged to have been recruited by the Russian secret service, on Aug. 7. Tusk said the suspect was recruited to kill the individual because they were “inconvenient to the Putin regime.”
