Democratic Socialists of America are all the rage. Its media-savvy candidates are competing for and winning primary and general elections against its parent, the Democratic Party, at the local, state, and federal levels.
One of the things that stands out is how many of their candidates and leaders are immigrants or from first-generation immigrant families. Bahrein, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Peru, Chile, and other countries of the Global South have contributed to the DSA’s conquest of the Democratic Party.
