Christopher Nolan is one of Hollywood’s most iconic directors with legendary films such as The Dark Knight, Oppenheimer, Inception, and Interstellar on his resume. His latest film, this summer’s blockbuster The Odyssey, will undoubtedly be the director’s latest hit, already generating significant box office totals and rave reviews among critics and moviegoers alike. However, unlike most of his previous films, The Odyssey has been mired in controversy over some of its plotlines and casting choices. And, after watching the film, the outrage and controversy surrounding it are valid. Nolan’s infusion of DEI into the classic work of literature should raise red flags.

However, two things were apparent to me after the film concluded. This includes Nolan’s vision for the movie, which transformed it from The Odyssey to The ODEIssey.
