On Wendell Berry: Limits in a limitless age

On Sunday afternoon, I was at a picnic with the other parents in our homeschool co-op. One new couple was almost comically typical of our beautiful little Catholic bubble: She had been a third-grade teacher at a classical Catholic school. He worked in the military-industrial complex.

As toddlers toddled around us, our grade-school daughters walked and talked in laps around the village square, and middle-school sons played cornhole, my new friend — let’s call him Patrick — laid out his approach to saving Western Civilization. It was compelling. He called it the Mullet Approach: Business in the front, party in the back.
