Before launching Operation Epic Fury against Iran on Feb. 28, one of President Donald Trump’s favorite refrains was that he “ended” eight wars during his first year-plus back in office.
On closer examination, the reality is more complicated. Half of the conflicts mentioned saw a quick return to fighting, or Trump had claimed credit for halting fighting in conflicts where no hot war was taking place. The other three saw peace remain elusive, paused only as delays to larger wars.
